Overview

Cocos Power is a refreshing gem nestled in Mesa, Arizona, at 540 W Broadway Rd. This seafood restaurant offers a vibrant dive into coastal flavors, skillfully blending traditional Mexican seafood with a unique twist. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed into a space that feels both casual and inviting, perfect for those craving fresh, authentic seafood fare in a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere.

The standout dishes here, such as the Coco Con Camarón Cocido—a tender shrimp served inside a coconut—capture the essence of the sea with a rustic balance of seasoning that is rarely achieved. The shrimp tacos and the exquisite coctel de camarón y pulpo highlight the kitchen's ability to treat each ingredient with care, freshness, and precision. These are not just meals, but experiences that evoke a sense of nostalgia, reminding many patrons of home-cooked seaside delights.

Cocos Power shines in its expansive offerings of charolas—shareable platters featuring cooked shrimp, pulpo, and ceviche—that are perfect for groups looking to sample a variety of flavors. Their botanas, small plate snacks rich in vibrant seasonings and fresh produce like cucumber and lime, complement the main dishes beautifully and enhance the communal dining experience.

The restaurant caters primarily to seafood lovers who appreciate authenticity and hearty, well-seasoned dishes without the frills. It is an ideal spot for families, friends, or anyone seeking high-quality Mexican seafood in a relaxed setting. While the service occasionally shows room for improvement in terms of engagement and communication, the warmth and dedication of the owner and staff often more than make up for it.

Notably, the sushi here deserves special mention. Though unexpected in a traditional seafood eatery, the sushi options, such as the Arizona Roll and the Bomba Roll, offer a breathtaking fusion that has won over even seasoned sushi aficionados. These rolls stand as a testament to the kitchen’s skill and innovation, blending Mexican ingredients with sushi artistry to deliver bold and satisfying bites.

Overall, Cocos Power is a must-visit for those craving fresh, richly flavored seafood with a Mexican flair. The combination of authentic dishes, a welcoming environment, and a distinctive menu makes it a destination for seafood enthusiasts looking to explore something heartfelt and memorable in Mesa’s dining scene.

This place is AMAZING! Five stars. Went around lunch time and first thing service was OUTSTANDING! Tables were clean and everyone there treated me like family. Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. The food while simple is beautifully seasoned which is very difficult to get right when it comes to seafood. Rustic balanced and delicioso as every ingredient was fresh and every bite reminded me of childhood. Next time a friend tells me he wants seafood or sushi i know exactly where to take them.

The Sushi is great! I've been back about 5 times! Staff needs some work though.. I don't think they mean to be rude I think it's more a lack of confidence and training. I ring the bell they usually come up and kind of blank stare at me. No greeting. No Hi or Hello or Hola. No what can I do for you or welcome or anything. I order and pay. At that point they walk off to the back. No offer to take a seat or mention of how long the wait will be. So I kind of wander over to the tables and wait for an indeterminate amount of time. Typically they forget to ask if I'm eating here or taking it to go. I always take it to go but I've had them accidentally assume it was an eat in order and get a little flustered when they mess up due to failure to ask in advance. There's no small talk or anything. Think some customer service training will help for both the guy and girl who are the cashiers there. Not talking at all can appear rude so that may be why a fair amount of the reviews mention it here. I only go to the sushi side because there's no English translation of the menu on the opposite side. If there was an English translation on the menu I'd order from there also.

This food is delicious! I haven't had Mexican sea food like this in years. The owner is a very humble and likable guy who does it all himself. I'm throughouly impressed, and his customer service is spectacular. He came to my work and brought me a prepared coconut just for me to try, free of charge. I really can't say enough with how touched I am. Please give it a try!

Wow... absolutely impressive. I found this spot randomly, I walked in, seen they have an "A" rating from the health board recently, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I loooove sushi (I have multiple sushi reviews from around the country) I ordered the Arizona Roll, The Jackson Roll and the Bomba Roll... I am literally eating one bite from each as I eat, this is delicious!! It is an authentic Mexican restaurant, BUT this sushi is extremely worth going out of the way for! Wow, wow, wow!! I'll definitely be back.
